Designer Yin She and Lenovo User Experience Design Group have created Lenovo’s AR Virtual Display Manager, allowing users to create and manage virtual displays using ThinkReality A3 glasses connected to their PC.

Lenovo’s Virtual Display Manager is a simple, intuitive and specially designed user interface that allows users to create and manage multiple virtual displays by connecting ThinkReality A3 glasses to their PC.

This augmented reality solution increases productivity by allowing users to expand their workspace without compromising physical office space.

Lenovo’s Virtual Display Manager received a 2021 Good Design Award from the Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and the European Center for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies.

By viewing the virtual screens in the glasses, users also get the security and privacy they seek in technology, especially in open or public workspaces like in the office or coffee shop.

This holistic hardware and software solution was designed for users who work on the go or want to be mobile in the office.

Working outside of the office environment presents a significant challenge for office workers.

Without multiple external monitors to display content such as data sources, spreadsheets, and even email, the productivity of these people is drastically reduced.

Recreating the office setup in a work-from-home environment is expensive and often physically impossible due to limited space, and moving multiple physical screens as workers move from place to place indoors or out the exterior of these spaces is not practical.

With default and user-customized presets for various display configurations, users have the flexibility to work the way they want without compromising desktop space.

By manipulating 3D space, this solution can scale endlessly, transforming your environment into a canvas of productivity and replacing the need for physical materials like boards and big screen TVs.

Rigorously tested on a diverse and inclusive population, the software is equipped with numerous user controls that provide better and more ergonomic body positions and multiple input modalities that expand its accessibility to a larger user base.

By replacing physical monitors and securing data privacy, Virtual Display Manager is a smart, intuitive, and durable solution for highly productive users.

Driven by extensive user research, AR Virtual Display Manager meets the needs of target users who are looking for productivity tools without sacrificing space.

It also meets the need for more privacy when traveling in public spaces such as airports, airplanes and cafes.

The software has been rigorously tested throughout development with a diverse and inclusive user population.

Its intuitive interface flattens the learning curve while instant previews combined with ergonomic adaptive display presets allow users to work comfortably from anywhere.

The software has even been tested with visually impaired users, leading to the addition of several user controls providing endless flexibility in virtual display settings.

Customization and personalization were central to the design: Virtual Display Manager provides built-in display presets to get users started quickly, while custom options allow for more configurations as they gain more experience with the software.

Users can switch between multi-display, ultra-wide, and vehicle modes quickly and easily with the press of a button.

They can also make adjustments based on these presets, such as changing resolutions, adjusting depth and space between each display, and even viewing angles of the display.

They even have the ability to restore presets to their original settings at any time.

Users can create their own custom presets and add or remove screens based on their hardware capabilities.

Finally, the software works holistically with its hardware components.

The glasses come with a fitting kit that allows users to choose from a range of temple and nose tips that have been tested in different countries and anthropometric scales.

Nose pieces can be additionally molded to conform to various shapes, sizes and angles.

This hardware comfort combined with the flexibility of the software enhances the augmented reality experience.

Every ThinkReality A3 is managed by Lenovo’s ThinkReality Cloud portal which provides custom configurations, device management, app creation, and app management from a single location.

IT admins can manage devices around the world from the comfort of their desk and with smart built-in telemetry have the power to collect important metrics and insights into device usage they’ve never had access to previously.

With the ever-changing workspace, a more holistic approach to business, and accelerating digital transformation, ThinkReality A3 software is modernizing the future of productivity and empowering all users to embrace a virtual experience through a beautiful and specially designed design.
